About Sunset Stride

What is Sunset Stride

Thank you for thinking of striding for Lindsey Lodge Hospice in 2012

Sunset Stride is the new name for the event previously known as Sleepwalk.  Keep reading to find out how things have changed and why the event has a new name...

After listening hard to all our supporters we've changed things a bit.  Here is the essential information:

1. the walk will be on Friday July 6th, starting and ending at Glanford Park, Scunthorpe courtesy of Scunthorpe United FC

2. the walk will be earlier than previous years, gathering at 7.30pm to start at 8.30pm

3. to reflect the earlier start we have renamed the event the Lindsey Lodge Hospice Sunset Stride

4.  we have agreed a new single route of approximately 8 miles which goes through the town centre so that everyone can cheer you on.  The route and the earlier time also means lots more toilet stops!

5. Sunset Stride will be open to loads more people, including household and family groups. We deem a household to be up to 5 people, comprising either five adults sharing a household or a family combination of one or more adults (21+) and minors (13+).

We'll still have music beforehand, lots of stewards on the way round and drinks and snacks afterwards.

Sleepwalk 2011 summary

When it first begain in 2006 the event was a women only late night walk.  However so many partners wanted to be involved that the walk was opened up to men in 2010 and everyone gets into the spirit.

The walk has always been based at Glanford Park, by kind courtesy of Scunthorpe United FC. Walkers could choose between a 6 or 13 mile circular route around Scunthorpe.

After finishing everyone is warmly greeted back at Glanford Park and rewarded with a Bucks Fizz, a commemorative medal and a breakfast.

Fundraising message

We know it's sometimes difficult hanging on for sponsors so we suggest you (a) set yourself a deadline - say end of July, (b) send in what you have initially collected and then (b) send the rest when you have it.  Please remember that every pound helps someone cared for by Lindsey Lodge in their time of need. Thank you.

When sending money in please remember two things:

1. cheques are payable to Lindsey Lodge Hospice

2.  anyone authorising Gift Aid at 25p for every £1 sponsored must put their home postcode, not their work address.  Their details will not be used for any purpose other than Gift Aid claim.
